REFUND CHECKS

If you receive financial aid in excess of your university charges, the balance will be refunded to you to use toward other education-related expenses, i.e., off-campus room and board, transportation, personal/miscellaneous costs, etc.  Early refund checks are scheduled to be mailed to local addresses (or permanent addresses if applicable) of on-time aid applicants one week prior to the start date of classes.  Students applying for financial aid after the priority deadline of March 1 should be prepared to pay for Fall education and living expenses until their aid is processed and their refund check is available.  To receive your refund check in a timely manner, you must maintain an accurate local address with the Registrar’s Office.   To learn how to have your refund directly deposited into your bank account, go to: http://www.controller.cmich.edu/Receivables/directdeposit.htm .  You can monitor your account status on line at the student portal at https://portal.cmich.edu.
